In 2022, Rep. Jim Haadsma “mediated” a meeting between disgraced union boss Jonathan Byrd and a woman that Byrd allegedly sexually assaulted. Rep. Haadsma has not made any statement on the victim’s intent to file charges against Byrd.
Despite knowledge of the accusations of sexual abuse levied agaisnt Byrd, Haadsma empowered and enabled Byrd by inviting him to provide testimony in the House Labor Committee, Chaired by Rep. Jim Haadsma. (The Detroit News, 3/30/2023)
